FloYo® Brand Mission:
By motivating individuals to create a new experience on a standup paddleboard, FloYo® instills a sense of confidence, freedom, self-exploration and fun! FloYo® inspires communities to find balance both on board and beyond.
So what is a FloYo® class?
FloYo® fitness classes combine the intensity of functional athletic training with the mind/body connection of yoga to create a full body workout performed on a standup paddle board. The FloYo® class sequence has been purposefully designed to combine power vinyasa yoga with core pilates moves to keep class flowing and muscles engaged. FloYo® seeks to provide a unique workout suitable for all levels of fitness which utilizes the core while connecting the mind and body to create a strong physique and clear mind.
Benefits of SUP Yoga:
Taking your yoga practice from the studio to a standup paddle board not only adds a new element of bliss, but also has numerous health and fitness benefits. Because the poses and exercises are being performed on a moving surface, more muscles are engaged than when practicing on a solid ground. The core muscles and smaller accessory muscles are forced to engage to keep you stable on the board. Strengthening these smaller muscles will improve your in-studio yoga practice as well. When on a board, each and every position must be carefully aligned for even weight distribution, meaning increased balance and body awareness.
In addition to being a fantastic core strengthener and full body workout, FloYo® is one of the best ways to connect your mind and body. Just one class will add a whole new element of intense focus and single pointed concentration to your workout. The second your mind begins to wander you will be off the board and in the water!
What to Expect?
Whether you have paddled many times or have never been on a board and whether you are an avid yogi or barely even know what downward facing dog is, FloYo® classes are designed for all fitness levels and abilities. Every class will begin with a quick introduction to SUP and demonstration of proper paddling technique. After a 10 minute paddle to get warmed up we will find a quiet place to begin our practice. Anchors will keep the group together as we flow through a 50 minute yoga class. Traditional yoga and pilates moves will be incorporated into the class to keep your entire body activated.
