Fitness Workout Classes and Fitness Workouts

Stand Up Paddleboarding, the fastest growing water sport in the world, was adopted by surfers in Hawaii to spend more time on the water as well as to keep in shape during the offseason when the waves were smaller. Stand Up Paddleboarding or “SUP” delivers a phenomenal core and upper body workout and helps improve balance and posture. 

 

Capital Stand Up Paddleboarding, or “Capital SUP”, is not only an ambassador to the sport of SUP, but a place to share our passion for the water and fitness. Strategically located in downtown Annapolis, our operations will provide an innovative and stimulating fitness program that will become the “talk of the town”.  

 

The Capital SUP fitness program, run by Christopher “Goose” Norman, will use the waterways of Annapolis as our gym.  That’s right we will be working out on the water, on a Stand Up Paddleboard. Before each class hits the water, an on land dynamic warm up will be used to get the blood flowing and the muscles activated, so each participant is ready for the water portion of class. We will offer a beginner class for those new to the sport of SUP. This class will focus on the technique and movement patterns of all exercise, while developing basic paddling skills. The intermediate/advanced class will involve more strenuous exercises on land as well as paddling workouts on the boards in the water. Both classes will finish with an on-water cool down including stretching and yoga based movements

 

The mission of Capital SUP fitness is to provide a new, always changing venue to get that daily workout.  We aim to increase total body strength, core stability, and flexibility in all our classes.  SUP is also a great form of rehabilitation by helping athletes/adults with ankle, knee, and hip stability. By improving balance and core strength, posture will improve and lower back pain will decrease.
