Born and raised in Salisbury, MD, Brian was introduced to the outdoors and being a waterman at a young age. He spent the summer and fall months fishing on the Wicomico River and surfing in Ocean City, MD. A former lifeguard for the Ocean City Beach Patrol, Brian took up prone paddleboarding and quickly became one of the top paddlers in the Mid-Atlantic, highlighted by a National Championship appearance in 2007.
Pursuing a dream of living in Hawaii, Brian attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa. While living in Hawaii, Brian was introduced to outrigger canoe racing and quickly fell in love with the sport. He joined one of top canoe clubs on Oahu and trained full time while attending school and working a full time job. He competed in some of the most prestigious races including the Hawaiian State Championships and the 2011 Molokai Hoe, which is the world championship in outrigger canoe racing.
Brian was adopted as a newborn, and after graduating college he had the amazing experience of finding his birth parents; which ultimately led him to his move to Annapolis, MD in 2012. Realizing that he wouldn’t be able to outrigger race anymore, he bought a Stand Up Paddleboard and began racing locally. He quickly become one of the top racers locally, competing in races up and down the East Coast. He introduced his friend and workout buddy Chris Norman to the sport and the two of them dedicated their life to becoming elite paddlers. With their hard work and podium finishes at races over the past year they now ride for a top board company Infinity SUP out of Dana Point, CA, Maui Jim sunglasses, and Kindsnacks.
When Brian isn’t paddling, he’s living out his dream of working for a professional sports team. Brian works in the marketing department for the Baltimore Orioles, and is known to kindly give away complimentary tickets to the games!
